Don’t Worry

Filed under: Matthew Gospel of — Scott Stocking @ 4:46 pm

From January 7, 2011 (This was my first one. They get much longer after this.)

Read last half of Matthew 6 this morning, μεριμνάω sticks out: “Do not worry” (vv 25, 28, 31, 34, 10:19; Luke 12:11, 22, 26); “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?” (v. 27; Luke 12:25); “Do not be anxious about anything” (Phil 4:6). It has positve and negative senses in 1 Cor 7:32-34 (“concern”) and positive in Phil 2:20 (“interest”).
